About Me
Ruchira Amare, is an Artist, Fashion Designer and Fashion Illustrator, painter and Analog photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born and brought up in Mumbai, India, she was always interested in the field of arts.
She pursued Engineering and eventually moved to being a full-time artist and designer in 2015. She studied Fashion Design from Parsons the New School for Design, Engineering from University of Mumbai and studied art under several artists in Mumbai and at New York Academy of Art and School of Visual Arts. She studied Photography at National Institute of Photography, Mumbai.
She developed her own style and found her voice that suggests escapism, longing for the past lost memories, melancholia and Nostalgia, romanticism. This theme can be seen in her paintings and photography aesthetic.
Her artwork has been exhibited at the Dacia Gallery, The Greenpoint Gallery, Six Summit Gallery, Colours of Humanity, The Leo House and Rochester Contemporary Art Centre, Space 776.
She has been reviewed in several Magazines such as the Ante Magazine and India.com. She did a residency with Dacia Gallery in 2017 and has been published in the international artist Magazine, Protest Magazine, among others.
She was part of a new exhibition ‘Below a Brooklyn Sky’ at Established Gallery, Brooklyn as well as at Gallery 440 for her analogue photography. In December 2022 she has a new book coming up that will be part of ‘The New School Alumni Bookshelf 2022’ which is a highly curated list of works of 2022 with The New School.
She loves the work she does and wants to lead a happy life and be able to share her art and craft with the world.
